Invitations, Veil Shopping, Food Tastings, and MORE!

Wedding planning has been so much fun and incredibly exciting so far. Our save the dates were sent out last week and we could not be more in love with how they turned out. The photo was from our engagement shoot with our wedding photographer and The Keeping Room in Baton Rouge designed them. Aren’t they beautiful?! It feels so real now that we have this hanging on our fridge.

Jeremy and I are planning our wedding in Louisiana this Fall. Right after my trip to New York last month, I flew to Louisiana to meet Jeremy for some wedding planning! We had our invitation appointment, some spontaneous veil shopping, a floral appointment, the wedding cake tasting, and a visit to our venue to try the food we will be serving at the reception. To come along with us, watch the vlog below!

The first thing we did was pick out our invitations. The Keeping Room was such a fun place to do this! Almost everyone I know designs their invitations online, which is super convenient, but I really wanted the experience of sitting down and touching the different kinds of paper, seeing what shapes they come in, and choosing what font we wanted in person. I had no clue there were so many options for wedding invitations.

At our invitation appointment I mentioned to my planner, Alli, that I had not purchased a veil for my dress yet. She made a call to I Do Bridal Couture and they kindly squeezed me in before their next appointment so I could come in and check out their veils. I knew exactly what I wanted, explained it, and they pulled out my dream veil immediately. I am seriously so thankful they allowed me to come in last-minute and helped me find the perfect veil to go with my wedding gown.

We started day two with a meeting at Alli’s office with our florist, Kali (aka The Plantation Florist). Before we went into the appointment I was pretty unclear about what I wanted my flowers to look like. This is why you hire a wedding planner. Alli knows what I want our wedding to be and was the perfect person to help bridge the gap between the vision in my head and what to describe to the florist. Kali also did a great job of helping me narrow down the vision by showing me images and having me explain if I did or did not like them and why.

Next on the agenda was our cake tasting at Ambrosia Bakery. We submitted cake flavor preferences in advance so we could try all the combinations we wanted. I think we tasted SEVEN different kinds of cake. Every single one of them was incredibly delicious and I cannot wait for our wedding guests to eat this cake the night of Jeremy and I’s wedding! I was also jokingly told that we would need a crane to deliver the cake I had dreamed up in my head. Yes, it’s big.

Last, but not least, we got to visit Nottoway again. I am so obsessed with the plantation we chose as our wedding venue. The food was just as great as I imagined it would be and they printed up the most adorable personalized menus for the tasting with each dish listed. We are having a seated dinner and passed hors d’oeuvres at cocktail hour so we had an excessive amount of food to taste.
